In those days, Baselitz was open to experimentation with painting of the subject and announced his rejection of abstraction in art, so he find a lot of like-minded people. Together with them, the artist was guided by the classic German expressionism, proclaiming a return to figurative art, color, spontaneous methods of creating works.
Baselitz relies on pictorial form, without trying to interpret a story. In his paintings, he soon demonstrated an artistic dialogue with his fate that determined his unique place in the art of the 60s.
The exhibition, which will present to the St. Petersburg art lovers will pictorial canvases, graphics and watercolors, made master of the past 20 years.
