Resurrection Novodevichy Convent

Resurrection Novodevichy Convent Voskresensky Novodevichy monastery, convent, founded by Nicholas I in 1849, as a replacement and will not appear Smolny monastery.
Previous place of its location was Vasilevsky Island, it is built building, located accustomed us to the gates of Moscow. Cathedral designed in the Russian Byzantine style, its chapels joined up gradually, one by one, but they are very similar. Subsequently, in the territory of the monastery and cemetery were built several churches: Mary Magdalene, Elijah the Prophet and Kazan. Due to the fact that during the Soviet planned to blow up the building, some parts of the monastery has not yet been recovered; but it was brought here one of the main Christian shrines: Belt of the Virgin and the gifts of the Magi.
