In the south-eastern outskirts of the Catherine Park erected monumental iron gates.
Reason for their construction in 1817 is Russia’s victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. At the gates of the inscription – “Courtesy of my colleagues”, belonging to Emperor Alexander I.
Of the three choices of materials – pudostskogo stone, granite and cast iron – the last project was approved.
