Marble Palace

Marble Palace Marble Palace, a huge building in the classical style, occupying an entire city block, built for Catherine II’s favorite Count Orlov.
This is the first building in St. Petersburg, the facade of which was lined with natural stone, which was used in interior decoration of halls, especially the beautiful Marble Hall, renovated in 2010 and decorated with different types of lapis lazuli. Dvroets was built in the late 18th century and was transferred by Catherine from favorite to favorite. During the Soviet era there was the Russian Academy of Material Culture and Lenin Museum. Now here a branch of the Russian Museum, which hosts a permanent exhibition of ” Foreign Artists in Russia in 18-19 centuries ”, as well as held various congresses.
