The Catherine Palace is one of the masterpieces of the late Baroque, located in the suburbs of St. Petersburg, Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin).
Initially it was laid as a small summer house of Catherine I, but he did not like the other, the Empress Elizabeth, and she ordered him to rebuild and in 1756, a huge, 325-meter mansion was opened around the world. During World War II the palace was badly damaged by the German occupiers, including the most famous part of the Amber Room, but the 300th anniversary of the city, it was restored, but restoration work is still going on. The palace is open to visitors every day from 10 to 18 hours, except on Tuesday and the last day of each month.
