August 28 – a big celebration program on the Square Art open to the public will present the program “Russian Day of Music in St. Petersburg” -. to the 110 anniversary of the birth of Dmitri Shostakovich
From 12.00 to 18.00 will be a concert and exhibition work tents. The exposition will present Shostakovich in his time, context, contemporary, family.
Piano pieces will be performed, and a trio of songs, chamber music written by the composer in the 1920-30s.
In the tent, “Movie Theater” viewers will see silent movie 20-30 years., as well as fragments of films where the music of Shostakovich sounds. A special area will be the “House of Culture. Shostakovich ‘: it will feature songs 1920-40-ies, and held stylized debates, popular among the intelligentsia of the time

Organizers decided to present the works of Shostakovich’s capabilities broadly as far as possible within the framework of a single event.
The concert will feature most of the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th symphonies, Katerina aria from the opera “Katerina Ismailova” octet of janitors opera “The Nose”, suite from the ballet “The Bolt”, an octet from the opera “The Nose”, a concerto for cello.
