Villa Bezborodko-second building in St. Petersburg, after the Marble Palace, marble.
In the area near the source of mineral water in 1784. The house was built for the Chancellor Bezborodko, although the basis for the Swedish home design has been taken in the Gothic style, which I was here earlier, even before the founding of St. Petersburg. In addition to the three-story mansion is also a garden with canals, statues and pavilions. After the Chancellor’s death, his niece lived here then, the hospital, and after it-TB hospital. During the construction of a building by Italian pink marble and the structure is designed in eclectic style, only a few ceremonial room and staircase have survived. The fence around the garden also deserves attention: it’s 29 sculptures of lions, holding the iron chain in his mouth and sitting on a square pedestal, which is unusual for our city, because we are becoming more common-ohrannniki lions holding the paw on the ball.
